Florence Kosky captivates audiences with her visually potent short ‘Neither Seen Nor Heard’.↓
In light of the world premiere, The Directors Notes platform featured Florence Kosky’s upcoming therapy drama ‘Neither Seen Nor Heard’ on their must-see short film list.
The film premiered at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth in Seattle and was co-written by Florence and its star Jessamine-Bliss Bell. ‘Neither Seen Nor Heard’ bagged a nomination for Best Narrative and the Special Achievement in Acting award at the festival.
In a surreal therapist’s session, and using dialogue lifted from real encounters with women, we delve into societal reactions to survivors of sexual assault.
“Set in a therapist’s office, the film is a “clever and nightmarish visualisation of facing trauma through the opinions of others. (…) It’s a visually potent short and Kosky delights in the production design of her protagonist’s recollections, paying homage to David Lynch through a series of heightened characterisations that are each underpinned by Chloe Caillet’s subtle, jazzy score.”
